I hate computers!

I know that sounds harsh but seriously, if one more piece of technology dies on me I'm going to lose it.

We've experienced a mini hard drive dying and almost losing priceless images, our hard drive died on our personal laptop where I DID lose precious photos forever, our external hard drive had to be placed in our freezer to try and recover it and now, last night my work computer bit it. I'm tired of this happening. I'm beginning to hate technology. Part of me would love to live somewhere without an internet connection. Ok, that may be pushing it because I honestly think I have some sort of internet addiction but still, I'm at the end of my rope.

This week just has been a little slice of hell for me. I'm pretty sure in the early morning hours today I had a panic attack. Which is the main reason I'm working from home again. I just want things to settle a bit. I want to be able to relax and get a good night's sleep soon, is that too much to ask?

missing family

This weekend was bittersweet. David and I had a great time hanging out with his family but we both came away from it sad because we wish we lived closer to our immediate families. In a perfect world we would move somewhere right in the middle of them. Then they would only be about a half hour away from us to the west and a half hour away from us on the east.

Three and a half hours doesn't seem like it's that far but it really is. You can't just go up for a night to hang out, or go out to dinner on a moments notice.

We are both extremely close with our families and this weekend it was just a harsh reminder that we are so far removed from them now. David got upset because a lot of his younger cousins don't really know who he is. That's the complete opposite of what he's used to. And he was genuinely hurt.

We both know that we can't move anytime soon. David's job is incredibly secure and he'd be stupid to leave it. Me, I'm not so attached to my job but that doesn't really matter because it's not like I'm going to move up there by myself :)

We just want to be able to be there for our nephew and have him really know who his godparents are. And on the flip side, we want our future children to really have a close relationship with the rest of our family. Maybe someday we'll make it back up there. That's what we both would like eventually but then there's the other hand, we love being so close to so many friends. If we moved back up there we really wouldn't have any friends to hang out with.

Just one more thing throwing our life upside down right now.

But on a happier note, David and I are now officially godparents. We love that little guy to pieces!

back from the beach

As you can see from the picture in the post below, I was having fun at the shore the second we got there! It was a fantastic vacation. It brought back so many memories of when I used to go there every summer. Things haven't changed at all and that's exactly what I needed to see. The boardwalk is the same, the beach is the same, the people are the same, and most importantly the vibe is the same.

This vacation came at the perfect time. I was incredibly stressed out right before I left because of work stuff and the second I smelled that sea air on Saturday it all melted away. I forgot how therapeutic the beach can be. Something I definitely need to keep in mind for the future!

Anyway, here are a few pics from the trip:

Ahhhh, the Jersey shore!

On our first day there, just taking everything in.

This is how we spent the first night. Enjoying the sunset on our rooftop deck with yummy beverages.

The boardwalk in the morning. We biked this everyday.

This is what the shore is about, feeling like a kid again. Check out the look on my mom's face.

The Wonderland Pier.

Our beach, 26th Street.

And a little photo shoot on our last night. Definitely a great vacation.

MIA

So, I've been lacking in the blog posts lately. But that's just because I have been swamped this week with work. Without getting into details, one of my coworkers was suddenly let go last week.

Turns out they left a LOT of work behind. Tons of which needed to be done this week. So, we were down to 3 people. But one of my team members was out on vacation this week. So there was more work I had to cover. And it just happens that my areas were super busy as well this week. Oh and a replacement has been hired so I have to spend part of my day training them tomorrow, fun!

There are 2 reasons why I'm not completely drained right now though.

1) I get overtime so the paycheck is going to look fantastic this week!

2) On Saturday I'm off to the Jersey shore until Wednesday!

The shore, jeez, it's been so long! I used to spend time at the Jersey shore EVERY summer growing up. It'll be nice to go back. And I'm going with my mom and sister and we've never gone on a vacation just the 3 of us so I know I'll come back with lots of memories.

Daydreaming about laying on the beach and just relaxing has been pretty much the only thing that is getting me through this week. I can't wait and I know I'm not going to want to come back!
