Please...

...at least think about doing this Saturday night. I will!

longest day ever!

I've been incredibly busy all day today and I happened to look up at the time on my computer and noticed that it was only 1:20pm. It totally felt like I only had an hour left of work. I couldn't believe how early it was.

So, since then I've been a little on edge and EVERYTHING is setting me off. The guy behind me, who has an office, has been having a meeting with about 3 other people for over a half hour. Not a big deal right? Well, he's had the door open the whole time. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that one of the perks of having an office? For the privacy? Close your g-d damn door. I am about 2 minutes away from walking up there and closing it myself. It's incredibly distracting.

The second thing that is annoying me is the woman who sits in the cubicle next to mine has started to hum. For the last 10 minutes that's all I hear (aside from the meeting). I seriously think that I need to walk away for about 5 minutes before I yell or throw something at someone.

No one else on my team is here today and it's very tempting to just say F it and leave and work the rest of the day from home.

Stupid Friday! :)

**Oooh, I completely forgot to mention the woman who had no problem going to the bathroom while I was in the stall next to her. Let's just put it this way, she was not familiar with the courtesy flush. I wouldn't have had to sit directly next to her if someone hadn't peed ALL over the seat in the other stall. Pleeaaaase can I go home now?!

The Big 3-0!

Yep, I'm no longer a twenty-something. ::tear::

Seriously though, this birthday kinda stings a little. I'm not all pouty like "boo hoo I'm old" but it is a little sad to let my 20's go. I'll get over it. Give me a week or two and I'll be as good as new.

But the first thing to put a smile on my face this morning was when I saw what the scale said. Yep, I had my first weigh in today and I've lost 5.4 pounds!

Happy Birthday to ME! :)

countdown to partytime!

I've got so much to do today after work and I really don't want to do it. David insisted on throwing a birthday party for me on Saturday and we have a ton of people coming in from out of town. So I really want the place to look good.

Plus the pups are stinky and in need of baths. Umm yeah. Not the easiest task and I'm sure that will be my photo for this site today. I'm thinking of bathing them at the same time because the picture would be awesome but I still have to deal with 2 wet squirmy dogs at the same time. I think I'll pass.

Then I need to clean the bathtub because we will have 8 people needing to use it over the weekend, most likely. Then of course is the vaccuming, dusting, cleaning the rest of the bathrooms, bla bla bla!

Don't get me wrong, I am THRILLED that everyone is coming down for this but it's just hard to make sure everyone is comfortable in our townhouse. I want everyone to be happy.

What I'm really looking forward to is seeing my friend from college. Like I said here, I haven't seen her since the wedding and I can't wait to have a few days with her to hang out.

Anyway, this post was kind of all over the place but that's my brain today. So much to do, so little time.

this is incredible...

Gotta love those dolphins. And yes this story made me teary eyed!

gone too soon

One of David's cousin's passed away last year. He was only 21 years old. It was incredibly devastating to his family and his numerous friends. He was in a band in Alaska and was apparently a phenomenal drummer. We both raised a shot glass of J.ack D.aniels (his drink of choice) to him to celebrate his birthday last night.

It's already been proven that he will never be forgotten. One small example is his m.yspace page. Comments still pour in for him daily. It's just so sad and I will never understand why things like this happen. Happy Birthday Joe.

Spring forward my ass!

More like crawl forward. It was so hard for me to get out of bed this morning. In fact, I didn't get up until the time I would normally leave the house for work. Yeah, I got into work an hour late. But it's more of a place where if you do 8 hours, they don't care when you come in so no biggie.

But still, this is going to suck for a few weeks. This transition is never easy for me. Although I do love having it lighter out later. So, I'll try to suck it up and stop complaining.

WW is going well. I'm starting to realize that eating until I'm full is a REALLY bad thing. Since I've been tracking my food I haven't felt full at the end of a meal, just satisfied. I hope this continues!

I'm also not calling this a diet, because it isn't. It's a lifestyle change. When I get to my goal weight I will continue this way of eating. So, I'm not going to pick a day on the calendar that I aim to be the day where I'm magically thin. I'll fail if I do that. I'm setting mini goals of 5 pounds each and hopefully that will make me more successful at this.

I have a long way to go but I'm already seeing things so differently now. I think before I eat and I haven't done that in the past. I'm making myself accountable for everything I consume. Makes it hard to grab that bag of M&M's!

Oh, I had to hide my scale last night because that's my other weakness. I weigh myself in the morning and at night. I HAVE to stop doing that. So, now I only am going to weigh myself on Friday's. Let's see how long that lasts!

a new beginning

I took a huge step yesterday. I signed up for W.eight W.atchers online. It's clear that I can't do this on my own. I need a plan, a system. And I'm already seeing things in a different light.

It's amazing how much crap I've been consuming without realizing how bad it is for me. I'm really hoping that this is what I need to finally lose this ridiculous weight and get back to what I picture myself as. Honestly, when I close my eyes, I don't see myself like this. I really can't wait until the me I see in my head matches the me in the real world.

Wish me luck. I'm sure I'll post about this on and off. I'm really determined to do this (yep, I know I've said that before). I've got a long road ahead of me but I'm optimistic. And now, the $17 that's taken from my credit card each month will help motivate me even more!

this depressing housing market

Our townhouse is in a cluster with 3 others, all attached. We just found out that 2 of them are currently bank owned. Insane! Needless to say, we won't be trying to sell anytime soon!

Hey, friends who should buy a house soon (you know who you are), you should check them out and we could be neighbors! :)

another tale from the wife of a sleepwalker

I woke up in the middle of the night last night to see David freaking out. He was convinced that the floor was bleeding and was determined to clean it up with a towel.

Um yeah...

7 boys + poker + beer = a 12 hour party

I went to sleep at 7:30am Sunday morning. I haven't done that since college, I think. And it wasn't even because I was partying. It was because others were. I can't blame the boys entirely though. They weren't being too loud. But it was a combination of things.

1) I had way too much caffeine Saturday night.
2) I brought the dog that snores the loudest up to sleep with me.
3) And yes, there was a little too much noise coming from downstairs.

So, David and I ended up going to sleep at the same time. I woke up at 1:30pm but was still groggy for the rest of the day. I had about 4 errands that I wanted to run on Sunday and got NONE of them done. Which means I get to do them this week. Grrreeaaat. Like I have so much time as it is after I get home from work.

I'm sounding a bit cranky aren't I? It was just a rough weekend. We also found out that Brooklyn has a tapeworm. Hooray!

Maybe I can get some sleep under my desk today. I'll let you know how that goes!
