back in it...

So, I had my day to wallow and I'm over it now. I'm just going to keep moving forward and try not to let what the scale says get me down. Because, truth is, I am starting to notice changes. That's the most important thing. Not some silly number. Part of me is even considering weighing myself every other week. But we'll see.

Anyway, tonight I came home from work to see that my Amazon package arrived 2 days early, which meant that my 'No More Trouble Zones' DVD came 2 days early! So, that's the workout I did tonight. But because it took me 2 hours to get home today (seriously?!? I hate the DC metro area!) I had to rush to get changed and start the workout before dinner.

I popped in the DVD and completed the first 4 circuits. After the 4th one I wanted to finish the whole thing so badly! But damn you traffic! I didn't want to eat dinner at 9pm so I stopped at 4.

But that in itself is a good sign. I WANTED to keep exercising. That's the best feeling! I'm going to do everything in my power to keep this habit going. I've even added an exercise log to this blog (to the left). I'm finding that it really does keep me motivated and it's great to see what I've done.

All in all I'm pretty proud of myself. I haven't lost a ton of weight yet but I know that I'm on my way. That feels pretty damn good.

I don't get it

I kicked ass and exercised 6 days this past week. I ate really well, with some exceptions but nothing over the top and yet I still gained .4 pounds. I have no idea what happened and I'm really upset about it.

I wallowed today and ate tons of things I shouldn't have (thanks Allie for the indulgent Valentine treats, they came in handy!). I know that isn't the right thing to do but I was just so depressed today. To see how hard I worked and it didn't do a damn thing is infuriating.

I honestly don't know what I did wrong and it's making me wonder if something is wrong with me. That thought might be premature but I'm known for being paranoid and a hypochondriac. I'll be back on that horse tomorrow but for now, I'm still going to wallow.

This sucks.

boot camp

I decided to mix up my exercise for today. I'm currently waiting on this to come in the mail so instead of just alternating my Jillian DVD and the elliptical I added in the Biggest Loser DVD that has been collecting dust for probably almost a year.

I bought this DVD when I was still ridiculously out of shape and probably at my heaviest weight ever. Back then, I put the DVD in and couldn't even get through the warm up. Not because I was huffing and puffing but because it was wreaking havoc on my knees. I couldn't even get through the warm up! Can you imagine how devastating that feels?

So, I was a little hesitant when I put it in today because I knew I couldn't get through it the last time. Well, this time the warm up was a breeze. Yay, empowerment!

I moved onto the boot camp session of the DVD and that was a whole different story. I got through it but not without wanting to cry because my muscles were screaming at me. But that's a good thing. I want them to be screaming, they've been too lazy for too long.

But I sit here typing this and I can actually feel all the muscles it takes to type because they are still reeling from the workout. However, I am not complaining. I love that DVD now, even though it made me cry!

exactly how I'm feeling today...

I'm even wearing the socks to prove it!

pride

Yesterday I put in the dreaded Jillian Michaels DVD and instead of hitting the button that let me choose which circuits I wanted to do, I instead clicked where it said to just play the entire workout. I was determined to try to finish all 7 circuits. I felt I was ready.

My heart was racing, I was sweating but I was doing it. I finished the WHOLE thing. And it wasn't half-assed at all. I did every exercise (although some had to be the "beginner" way but still!) with enthusiasm. I cannot even begin to describe how proud of myself I was after I finished it. And to tell you the truth, it was easier than I thought it would be. I think a lot of that had to do with the fact that I lost track of what circuit I was on and how much time was left. When I chose the circuits myself I would have to physically click to the next circuit which allowed for some down time and time to realize just how much I had left to do, which is a bad thing.

Anyway, I love this workout and now that I know I can do the whole thing, it's really put me on the right track to keep this going. I'm stronger than I think and that's empowering.

Oh, and today was my weigh in and I lost 2.2 pounds!
