David bought me the best Christmas present ever (according to me) in 2006. At first I was faithful to it, giving it the attention it deserved. But after a while it became a dust collector as these things tend to do.
I'm talking about this:

Now to defend myself a little....David insisted on putting it together ourselves (did I just throw my husband under the bus?). You can guess how that turned out. After a few weeks the thing was making horrible clicking noises and it became stressful to use it. And exercise is supposed to release stress. So in the corner it went....for a while.
We finally got a repair man in and it was as good as new. Then the batteries died on it and I just started to use it without all the bells and whistles. I became bored with it and back in the corner it went.
Until a few days ago. I finally took on the HUGE challenge of replacing the batteries. Whew, that was exhausting! Seriously, I cannot believe how lazy I was in not replacing those sooner. I forgot how much fun that thing can be. Yes, fun!
I forgot all the awesome things that come along with the elliptical. Pre-programmed workouts, there's a countdown clock, resistance, you can figure out your pulse, the fan, and most importantly you can see how many calories you are burning.
And now that our TV is working again in the basement, thanks to my awesome husband (see I made up for blaming him earlier!), I can distract myself from the burn. Today I played Friends and that helped me get through the 30 min workout beautifully.
I've fallen in love with that machine and I'm actually craving workouts now. I can't remember the last time that's happened. Here's to hoping it's a trend that lasts!
