a little of this, a little of that

I feel like there are a thousand things to write about lately but I just haven't had the time or energy.

Quick update:

I had my surgery on Friday and everything went well.  I was a nervous wreck before hand but thankfully David was allowed back with me for all the prep stuff.  I had 2 wonderful nurses taking care of me as well.  Seriously, these women were awesome.  It was a complete 180 from the last time I was at that surgery center.  The time before it felt like the nurses were just there because they had to be.  This time it felt like they actually cared.  So, thank you Jane and Sabrina for putting up with this loopy patient!

this is what waking up from anesthesia looks like.  Pretty isn't it?
Anyway, my RE got all the polyps out so mission accomplished.  Now I'm just waiting for my body to return to normal.  It's taking a while and I'm extremely frustrated, annoyed, angry with it all.  I'm going through one of those phases where there just isn't a word in the English language to describe how I'm feeling inside.  But I'm trying to breathe and just remember that this too shall pass.

In other news, I seem to be doing quite well with eating better and exercising.  I have no idea how much weight I've lost these past 3 weeks (because David hid the scale from me) but I am starting to see changes and that feels awesome.  I'm also beginning to like the time I spend on the elliptical machine.  Crazy I know! Now, if I could just get rid of the cake and all these cupcakes in this house!  Birthdays can be dangerous :)

we are a go!

I just got the call.  Surgery is set for tomorrow at 1:45pm.  I'm not prepared at all.

I just wasn't expecting that phone call today.  I had it in my head that it's already Thursday, no way would they call me to tell me that I could get in tomorrow.  I was sitting here looking forward to working from home tomorrow, getting my hair cut on Saturday and then going out for my birthday dinner with David that night.  That's what my mind was focused on and then BAM!

The nurse who called me to tell me the err good news (?) was ridiculously cheery on the phone.  Almost to the point of annoying.  Actually, it was annoying.  She gave me instructions and then said "good luck!" and giggled.  Umm, no, you are not allowed to giggle when you tell me that I'm having surgery tomorrow.

Maybe I'm a bit on edge and that's why it bothered me but anyway, I'm not looking forward to this!  I really had written this week off.  I thought that we would just have to wait until my next cycle to do this. I know I'm lucky I got in and that it's great that we are squeezing this all in so fast but I'm sitting here having a mini panic attack.  Not good.  Should have asked them to prescribe a sedative for me.  I got one the last time I was put under anesthesia.  Grant it, it was for wisdom teeth but still, I walked in there happy as a clam and high as a kite.  Ok, enough similes.

I'm scared.

impatiently waiting

I just realized that I completely forgot to post an update after my test last week.  Long story short, I'm a dumbass for getting so worked up about it.  All of those horror stories I read last week did not apply to me so I wasted all that time being nervous for nothing.  I barely felt a thing during the procedure and afterwards it was only light cramping.  Nothing terrible which is probably why I neglected to write about it until now.

It was a very quick test but they did find out that I do in fact have polyps.  *Gasp*  Yeah, not that shocked, we all knew they were there.  Well, scratch that.  He thought there might be one, apparently there are a couple of friends in there with him.
My polyps, making their digital debut!
Ok, so you can't really see them all that well but they are there, I promise.
So, surgery is our next step.  Problem is, I literally have no idea when that might be.  I talked to my nurse today to find out if there was any progress in scheduling me but it turns out that egg retrieval appointments get booked first in their surgery center, then if there is room they schedule in all the other surgeries.  Good to know.  So, honestly, I could get a call tomorrow telling me my surgery is the next day.

That doesn't sit well with me.  I'm the kind of person that needs a few days to mentally prepare for something like this.  I've only been put under anesthesia once and that was for wisdom teeth.  So, I'm panicking just a little.

I do want to get it done this week though because well, the timing is right and I just want to put this all behind me.  But if we have to wait longer, so be it.

In other news, these damn birth control pills are wreaking havoc on my body.  I have about 8 side effects right now.  Nothing so terrible that I need to stop taking them but jeez, I'm over this already.  I hate them!

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month

I'm very new to this diagnosis and I'm still learning about endometriosis but from what I do know, it deserves some awareness.  It's incurable, causes serious pain, causes fertility issues and it puts those who suffer with it at a higher risk for certain cancers among other things.  So, I am putting up this ribbon in support and in the hope that one day there will be a cure for the millions of women who suffer from this.
